Green Impact Launch Event 2023-24

Green Impact 2023-24 has officially launched!

After a three year pause, the scheme is back and even better than before, and we can’t wait for you to see it.

We started off our Green Impact launch event on Thursday 26 October with teas, coffees, pastries and a great energy in the room! The Sustainability team, a representitive from SOS-UK and Vice Chancellor Sasha Roseneil were joined by 50 staff members from Schools and departments all across the University, and introduced the new Green Impact Scheme, how it works, how you can get involved and even started building ideas and teams. 

Green Impact is our sustainability action and awards programme for Schools, departments, and teams across the University. By working together with staff in your area, you can make a real positive impact on sustainability at Sussex, as well as learning more about sustainability, leading on something outside of your day-to-day role, and developing new skills.

Your team’s hard work will also be recognised with a prestigious Green Impact award for your department or School!

For those who are wanting to join a team and get involved, why not start by joining our Teams Network and Viva Engage Green Impact Community to talk with others that are interested and find people in your School or department.

Anyone and everyone can be part of a Green Impact team, so why not start chatting to your colleagues and formulating a team now? This is a great opportunity to reach out to staff across your area, who you may not usually work with. 

For those of you who want to set up or a team right away, you can register and log in to the Green Impact toolkit here.

Using the toolkit

1. Join your department’s team or create it to get started.
2. Find positive actions in the toolkit to take within your team. You can use the filters to find the most relevant actions for your team.
3. Once your team has completed an action, mark it as ‘done’.
4. Write a short comment and upload some evidence to demonstrate how you have completed the action.
5. All members of the team will be working on the same toolkit, so all progress, comments and evidence made by one team member will show for all in the team and will count towards your team’s Green Impact award.
6. You can complete as many actions as you like in any order. You will need at least 75 points for a Bronze award, 150 for Silver, and 225 for Gold.
7. You have until 24^th April 2024 to complete as many actions as you can and submit your toolkit. After this we’ll be in touch about an audit to verify your award level.
