Sussex Law School, University of Sussex and the School of Environmental Science and Engineering (ESE), Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) are organising a Newton Fund Research-Link workshop.

The main theme is focused on 'Socially Responsible Waste Management and Resource Efficiency in Global Supply Chains: Challenges, Strategies in China and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)'.

Date

The workshop will take place in Shanghai, China, on 28-30 June 2018.

The workshop

The workshop is being coordinated by Dr Qingxiu Bu from University of Sussex and Professor Geng Yong from Shanghai Jiaotong University, and will have contributions from other leading researchers.

The workshop aims to develop strategies to enable the desired long-term eco-socio economics benefit resulting from easing transition to a fully resource efficient, circular and inclusive economy.

It will provide an opportunity for early career and established researchers from the UK and China and more widely to discuss and present on challenges and strategies in the context of sustainable development goals (SDGs) given China’s waste-to-energy campaign.

We seek a wide range of scholars with particular interests in pursuing the inter/trans/multi-disciplinary research in the relevant areas, such as environmental sciences, engineering, management, economics, law, ethics and policy.

Funding

Funding is available to cover travel and accommodations for successful applications from Early Career Researchers in the UK and China (i.e. individuals who received their PhDs in the last 10 years or work in the field and have research experience equivalent to a PhD).

Applications

Applications from UK participants should be completed before the deadline of 31 May 2018.

Successful applicants will be notified by the end of May 2018.
