Student Society: Robogals

We encourage group projects and student societies to equip our students with the leadership and collaborative skills they will need in their careers. We are proud of hosting a Robogals chapter, which promotes female participation in STEM related subjects, engineering in particular.

Robogals is a society designed to promote female participation in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Currently, women make up only 11% of the engineering workforce in the UK. By fostering their participation from a young age, we hope to improve this rate.

Joining Robogals is the opportunity to learn several skills. You will learn to program Lego EV3 Mindstorms. You will be trained to run workshops. Last but not least, you will meet students from across the university and make new friends!

What our students say:

Michael Kareithi:
"I get to do things that I didn’t think I could or would do – building robots and meeting a bunch of new people!"

Kirill Nevzorov:
"I would recommend Robogals to others, because you learn how to build robots, get to improve your ‘people’ and communication skills, and taking responsibility. It is really satisfying helping out for big events especially."
