Cultural Studies research at Sussex
Our faculty engage in a range of research activities, using innovative methods and approaches including oral history, creative writing, documentary film, online ethnography and media watching. We publish books, articles and policy papers and regularly work with communities and the public including conferences, debates and cultural festivals.
Working from within a dedicated research centre, faculty have recently explored some of the following themes:
- Race, ethnicity and multiculturalism
- Post-feminism and contemporary media cultures
- The history of the Women’s Liberation Movement
- Gender, Sexuality and Religion
- Comedy and popular culture
- Habitat, taste and the new middle class
As diverse as our research is, what links our work together is a commitment to informing, supporting and collaborating with different communities and social groups.
