Funding and fees
How can I fund my course?
Funded projects and scholarships
Our aim is to ensure that every student who wants to study with us is able to despite financial barriers, so that we continue to attract talented and unique individuals. Don’t miss out on scholarships – check the specific application deadlines for funding opportunities. Note that funded projects aren’t available for all our PhDs.
Functional and quantitative post-translational modification (PTM) proteomic and interactomic study of the post-DNA replication damage recovery in Schizosaccharomyces pombe - Dual-PhD program between Sussex and HKUST
The PhD scholarship covers fees and a stipend at RCUK/Hong Kong rates for 4 years
Structural and functional studies of human WRN
Four year School funded PhD studentship, which covers fees and a stipend at standard RCUK rates
National postgraduate loans
As a PhD student, you may be eligible for a loan of up to £25,000. You can apply for a PhD loan if you’re a self-funded UK national, aged 59 or under.
As an MPhil student, you may be eligible for a Postgraduate Masters Loan of up to £10,280 if your course starts on or after 1 August 2017. This is not available for students registering for a PhD.
Part-time work
We advertise around 2,500 part-time jobs a year so you can make money and gain work experience. We have a special scheme to employ students on campus, wherever possible.

How much does it cost?
Fees for self-funding students
UK/EU students: £4,260 per year
Channel Islands and Isle of Man students: Fees are not yet set for entry in the academic year 2018/19. Fees will become available once set by Research Councils UK.
Our fees follow the indicative fee level set nationally by Research Councils UK and may be subject to change.
International students: £19,200 per year
