How to apply for a student visa

If you are an international student, you may need to apply for a student visa to study in the UK.

I am a European (EU) student

If you are a European Economic Area (EEA) or Swiss national and have been accepted onto a course, you do not need to apply for a visa.

You can enter the UK freely and have the right of residence for the duration of your course.

Make sure you have a valid passport or national identity card before entering the UK.

The type of visa you need will depend on your course, where you are from and the length of your course.

You may need to apply for a Tier 4 visa or a short-term study visa.
