The Shadow of Anxiety

For this project my topic is anxiety. I wanted to show in these photographs what goes on in an anxious person’s mind, how their vision would look differently at the world.

You cannot tell who is or isn’t an anxious person from their exterior, this is why I want my photos to express the psychological side to Anxiety, the anxious state of mind.

An inspiration to the style of my project was John O’Connell, as some of his photographs connote a suggestion about people’s psychological states; they are not as clear as our exterior might pre-suppose.

I did not want my photographs to be clear-cut because the psychological state of an anxious person is not clear-cut; it is panicky and full of thoughts.

Anxiety is an issue I had to deal with myself, so I want to express what anxiety ‘looks like’ to me. I believe my photographs work well as I have expressed what an anxious person ‘sees’.
