The city is full of spaces. Some are large, some are small. There are spaces that seduce us and others that intimidate us. Brighton is an urban landscape that is continuously changing. Millions of pounds are being invested into projects that regenerate certain areas and develop other parts of the city. All this emphasis on growth within the city is producing newer spaces. With such emphasis on creating these newer spaces what becomes of the spaces already redundant?

Vacant is a series that explores redundant office spaces in Brighton and Hove. I drew inspiration from contemporary landscape photographers Dan Holdsworth and Andreas Gursky. Their works inspired me to explore more complex details within the landscape. Details such as different textures, colours and shadows. By focusing on these elements I intended to convey a new way of viewing aesthetics within redundant space.
