The Performing Tailor (Documentary)

By: Clare Kiernan, Mark Chick and Anna Mulholland

Hidden away from the buzz of the city high street is the traditional tailoring business, Agnews, a century-old family business now run by the tailor Adrian Kenward. He is a man of routine who holds a passion for amateur dramatics, the odd cup of tea and the ordinary folk who are his customers. In part this is a documentary about the survival of a traditional skill within today's fast-food fashion world. However, this quirky tailor, who struggles to make a wage from the business, prefers to keep his fingers and toes crossed in the hope that his charismatic charm, camp attributes and dominating persona will determine that the Agnews tailors will one day prosper. Inspired by the work of Broomfield and Theroux, this is a documentary about the ordinary man for the ordinary man.
