OPOWIE F O ALEXANDRZE (The Tale of Alexander )will focus on second year Polish exchange student Alec Gosiewski. The documentary will explore various aspects of Alec's experience of coming to England and will address themes such as acceptance into a new community, cultural differences and dislocation. The documentary will be compiled of footage of him contacting home, exploring the Polish aspects of Brighton and reflecting on his time in England. We also intend to use archive footage and stills to depict a brief history of Alec's family and home life, thus creating a contrast to his current lifestyle. Alec explains why he decided to live and study in England and what his relationship with Polish girlfriend Monica means to him as they experience their time in England together. Alec's story gives the documentary a personal slant on the immigration subject matter that we wanted to explore.
