MA in Contemporary European Studies
For all applicants - an upper second class honours degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant previous degree such as political science, economics, history, law, modern languages, international relations, philosophy and geography. Applicants from other academic backgrounds can apply. Applications are also welcomed from candidates who have been away from academia for some time.
For non-native English speakers:
IELTS 6.5 overall (with minimum of 6.5 in the written section) or equivalent.
Applicant Profile - The majority of graduates from this MA pursue one of five career paths:
- The European Union, either inside the institutions or as lobbyists or consultants;
- The civil service - primarily working in foreign affairs or European integration;
- Non-Governmental Organisations, primarily in the security, human rights and asylum/refugee sectors;
- Media and journalism;
- Academic, either another complementary Masters level qualification before choosing a career or a doctorate with a view to becoming a lecturer;
MA in European Politics
For all applicants an upper second class honours degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant previous degree such as political science, history, European studies, modern languages or international relations. Applicants from other academic backgrounds can apply. Applications are also welcomed from candidates who have been away from academia for some time.

Applicant Profile - The majority of graduates from this MA are likely to pursue one of the following career paths:
- The governmental sector, as bureaucrats or researchers with central government, sub-national government of the European Union;
- Political lobbyists or consultants;
- Non-Governmental Organisations, for instance in the security, human rights or asylum/refugee sectors;
- Media and journalism;
- Academia or policy research, either progressing to another complementary Masters level qualification before choosing a career, or a doctorate with a view to becoming a lecturer or a researcher for a policy think-tank.
MA Strategic & Security Studies
For general guidance, the majority of graduates from this MA would be expected to pursue one of the following careers:
Working for national governments, armed forces, or international governance organisations such as the UN, NATO or the EU or with NGOs in the fields of security, human rights, asylum/refugee issues, as civil servant, academics or journalists.
