Sussex European Institute

Prospective students

As well as two postgraduate taught courses, the Sussex European Institute offers research training, enabling graduates to benefit from the Institute's position among the leading international centres of graduate training and research in European studies.

Prospective students can choose from three options when applying to study with SEI.

MA International Politics

Study the connections between politics at a domestic level with the wider functioning of politics at the regional and international levels, developing your understanding of the political context in which different countries are operating and how this influences their foreign policies. Students will have the opportunity to specialise in the regional politics of South Asia, East Asia or Europe.

Taught by faculty with exceptional expertise in the politics of different regions and powers around the world, students will gain a thorough understanding of the interplay between domestic and international levels of politics and decision-making.

In exploring these processes, the course makes use of both cutting-edge research and the insights of policy-makers and others seeking to shape policy, preparing students for both further academic study and careers in the wider policy environment.

Sussex is the ideal place to study this MA – our faculty have exceptional expertise in the domestic political and policy context of a number of European countries, the EU policy process and the interplay between them.
