Workshops and courses

Our workshops, courses and development resources can help you grow personally and professionally.

Autumn 2022

During autumn term 2022, OD will be offering a number of online workshops for staff. Please see our OD Calendar of Events for details and booking links.

Online courses are a time-efficient and convenient way to learn about a range of subjects. We have a range of e-learning programmes available to all staff which you can access all year round. Please visit our staff online learning page for details.

Is there a charge for attending?

All of our courses and online programmes are free to Sussex staff.

Late cancellation

Late cancellations that leave seats/online places empty have considerable cost implications for the University and remove opportunity for other staff members who might wish to attend. Given this, a late cancellation fee of £50 will be charged to your school or division if you cancel your booking within three days of the course start date.

Exceptions may be made for illness, evidenced by your line manager or doctor’s note, or a family emergency. We are happy for you to substitute your place as long as you notify us before the course commences.

Planning your development

Visit our planning your development pages to learn more about mentoring at the University of Sussex and the other ways that we support professional development, including

Course Leadership Programme

The Educational Enhancement team (formerly TEL) have put together a training programme for new course leaders/convenors. This programme is designed for University of Sussex staff who are new to a course leadership role or who are already in post but would like to receive further support.

The programme consists of five sessions run across the academic year to help support you with topics including the cycle of the academic year, the annual course review process, pedagogy and curriculum. The sessions will be held online; please attend as many as you are able to. Recordings will be made available if you are unable to attend any sessions.

Course details and booking available here.

Session Feedback!

After attending a course, you will be asked to complete a one-minute feedback survey - please, please do complete this as we use the feedback to design our future programme of events.

We also always want to hear more detailed feedback on our courses, so please do email us with any comments you have after attending a course.

Thank you!
