It is hoped that by taking part in the day, the students will recognise the relevance and significance of such subjects and begin to consider them as viable options for further study. The experience will also contribute toward the Citizenship curriculum, and should benefit students in terms of skills in critical thinking and reasoning. The second of the Politics Focus days also invites year 12 students to attend alongside year 10 students, with a combination of shared lectures and discussions, and seminars where the groups will separate. This will add an extra interesting dimension to proposed discussions and debate.
