Schools and colleges

The First-Generation Scholars scheme provides information, advice and guidance for young people currently under-represented in higher education. We run events and activities that support and raise awareness, aspirations and attainment.

Partner schools and colleges

The majority of our events are exclusively offered to our partner schools and colleges, who identify a cohort of students to be part of our First-Generation Scholars scheme.

To be eligible for the scheme students must either be the first person in their family to go to university, children in care (CiC), or have experience of being in care.

Other relevant criteria can include disability or free school meals.

Through a sustained programme of support, advice and experience of university life from Year 9 to 13 we hope that students will gain the information that they need to make informed choices about their futures.

Service Level Agreement

Our partner schools and colleges have signed a Service Level Agreement (SLA). The SLA includes information on our targeting criteria, minimum engagement and what you can expect from the WP team.

Subject-specific events

As part of our engagement with partner schools, we offer subject-specific tasters and projects across years 7-13.
