Study periods

Whether you come for a whole year or just a term, you can choose from a wide selection of modules, and tailor your choices to whatever you need to progress to the next year of study at home.

Our academic calendar

The University year at Sussex begins in mid September. Each academic year consists of two terms: autumn (September to January), spring (January to April) plus the summer term when year-end examinations take place. Each term is followed by an assessment period. There is no teaching during the summer term; because of this, you cannot spend only the summer term here.

As a visiting and exchange student you will be taught alongside British and international students taking full degree courses.

A number of study periods are available:

Spring term
