Advanced Performance (W3068)
30 credits, Level 6
Spring teaching
This module represents the opportunity, in the final year of your degree, to develop and publicly present your performance skills at an advanced level, preparing you for future auditions, gigs, and life as a professional musician. Whether you are planning to work in musical theatre, rock or pop performance, as a jazz musician or classical soloist, a live electronic artist or with experimental hybrid instruments, this module will help you to develop your own style and skills and present them to the public.
Group workshops explore a variety of performance-related topics including authenticity, performance psychology, programming and the concert ritual, in addition to individual tutorial support and sustained feedback on your work. In this module, you prepare for two assessments: i) a presentation outlining details of and rationales behind your chosen repertoire, along with some performed examples; ii) an end-of- year recital (30 minutes).
