This module gives you a rigorous introduction to the principles of economics and their application to real-world international business settings.
You explore topics including:
- globalisation and international business
- the structure, conduct and performance of businesses from a global perspective
- multinational corporations and international supply chains in international business
- international trade and economic integration
- global protectionism
- multinational enterprise and the role of foreign direct investment (FDI) and innovation in international business
- international institutions
- the balance of payments and foreign exchange markets
- financial crises.

Contact hours and workload
This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 44 hours of contact time and about 106 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
