Practical Teaching Techniques and Observation (005X5B)

Spring teaching
This practical course explores and critically evaluates teaching methodology and classroom techniques and includes observation of experienced teachers. You will have a chance to observe and discuss a range of different teaching styles, and supervised teaching practice will enable the development of your teaching skills as well as understanding of the different methodologies and techniques. You will normally be grouped according to previous teaching experience. You will also be expected to keep a reflective learning/teaching journal. The course is assessed through observed teaching practice and the reflective journal.

Contact hours and workload
This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 33 hours of contact time and about 117 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
