Scholarship applications are considered by an academic selection panel, with the chosen recipient being awarded the scholarship when they register on their course in September 2024.
Cate Haste was a television producer, writer and Sussex alumna (1966). She produced many historical documentaries such as End of Empire (1984) and The Churchills (1995), and wrote several books, including Keep the Home Fires Burning: Propaganda in WW1 (1977), Nazi Women (2001), Clarissa Eden: A Memoir – From Churchill to Eden (2008), the Goldfish Bowl: Married to the Prime Minister (with Cherie Booth; 2005) and Rules of Desire: Sex in Britain WW1 to the Present (1992). Her book, Passionate Spirit: the Life of Alma Mahler, was published in 2019 and explores the life of Alma Mahler, who was a composer, author, socialite and extraordinary intellect.
