About Media Production and Filmmaking

We specialise in documentary and fiction filmmaking, digital media production and technologies, and photography.

We produce films, multi-media work and installations, and conduct research with academic and industry partners. Our faculty publish books and articles, produce films and digital media artworks.

We have built links with Brighton’s digital and creative industries, which means our students have excellent opportunities for work experience, placements and their future career prospects. Our students can access specialist production equipment, a studio, and post-production facilities, as well as a resource centre with more than 5,000 fiction films, documentaries and television programmes.

Students gain a range of academic, practical and personal skills, and learn to use industry-standard software and equipment.

Skills we teach include:

  • video production and editing
  • photographic manipulation
  • digital design
  • animation
  • script writing.
