Using the Library

Welcome to the University of Sussex Library

All students and members of staff are automatically members of the Library. We are also pleased to welcome applications from colleagues from our partners such as SEF and Catering.

To enter the library, you'll need your university ID card, which doubles as your library card for your time at the university. Please make sure to bring your card with you every time you visit, as you'll only be allowed to make 5 cardless visits to the library each year.

If you lose your ID card or have it stolen, please let us know as soon as you can. You can pick up another one from the Print Unit, Hastings Building, at the top of Boiler House Hill.

If you're not a member of the university and just visiting the library, our rules are slightly different; all the information you need is here.

The pages in this section will provide you with detailed information on how the Library works. Opening hours, borrowing information and copyright guidance are some of the first things you will see on the left hand side.

We always welcome feedback, whether our service has not met your expectations or exceeded them. Please us see our Feedback & Complaints [PDF 289.08KB] information, or use our Contact Us page.
