With deadlines falling, follow one simple rule to avoid catastrophe when working from email attachments:
if you open a document from an email, choose save as and give your file a permanent home (such as Documents) before you start making changes.
If not, your file is likely to be stored in a temporary location: see our FAQ for more information.
