Copilot

Microsoft Copilot

Sussex recommends using Microsoft Copilot.

Sussex staff and students have access to Microsoft Copilot Chat which is data-secure and free.

We strongly advise against using other services like ChatGPT as they do not keep your data secure.

Data-secure

Microsoft Copilot keeps your data safe. As long as you sign in using your Sussex credentials you should always see the green 'data-secure' shield in the top-right corner.

Access

The Copilot chat can be accessed in the latest version of the MS Teams and Outlook desktop applications. Alternatively, it can be accessed online.

Step 2: At the end of the meeting, copy and paste the entire transcription text into Copilot.

a. Word count limit: You can bypass the Copilot word count limit by adding your text or prompt into a Word document and uploading that into Copilot.

Tips

  • Be specific with your prompts: The clearer your question or task, the better the response.
  • Use natural language: You don’t need to use special commands—just ask like you would a person.
  • Ask follow-up questions: You can build on previous answers to refine or expand the conversation.
  • Ask Copilot itself for tips on how to use it!

Please note: ‘Agents’ are not currently available under the Sussex Microsoft licence.
