Undergraduate degrees in astronomy
Astrophysics can be studied as part of a range of undergraduate degrees (MPhys/BSc). These are taught by members of the Astronomy Centre and other lecturers in the Physics and Astronomy Department.
Postgraduate degrees in astronomy
We accept applications for postgraduate degrees at any time. Both research and taught (MSc) postgraduate degrees are available, full- or part-time.
Research degrees: PhD/MPhil
Two research degree programmes are available, PhD and MSc Research degree opportunities are available in all our research areas. Prospective PhD students should consult the PhD Projects Page.
Taught degrees: MSc
MSc courses are half taught courses and half research project. Students undertake a significant project in one of our research areas. We have listed some example projects.
Funding
For students satisfying the STFC criteria we have fully funded PhD studentships available every year. For EU students there are also school postgraduate studentships.
