Tablet computers have been welcomed with open arms in schools --but why? They can be invaluable as digital textbooks, for drill-and-practice of skills, for web-surfing and individual content-creation. But can we go beyond the tradition of the 'personal' computer, given the portability and flexibility of tablets? Our 'Pass the iPad' project uses the MultiDraw application to encourage shared use of tablets as devices for co-creation. Our group drawing fun has been experienced by hundreds of families at the Brighton Science Festival and scores of serendipitous groups at the events run by Myths, Morphs and Memes.
