Sussex hosting 38th GridPP Collaboration meeting
The 38th GridPP Collaboration meeting will take place on 6 and 7 April at the University of Sussex, supported by Dell. With the Run2 of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) well underway, and a huge amount of data already processed by the four LHC experiments through the LHC computing Grid, the discussions will be centred around planning the computing needs for the Run3 of the LHC. This will involve in depth presentations of the status of computing for the ATLAS, CMS and LHC experiments, as well as discussions of the requirements for the various Grid sites, including the Sussex Tier-2 site.
The Experimental Particle Physics group at Sussex hosted one of the GridPP meetings back in April 2010, soon after the ATLAS group at Sussex was established by Prof Antonella De Santo and Dr Fabrizio Salvatore.
Dr Salvatore said: “It is a real pleasure to be able to host one of the GridPP meetings again. Sussex has been part of the South East branch of GridPP for the past 5 years, helping in the processing of millions of data collected by the LHC experiments, and it will be very important to discuss the future planning of GridPP in the years to come”.
