Ms Sally James
Member appointed by Council (first elected: 1 August 2007, end of tenure: 31 July 2013).
Sally James is a Sussex graduate (Social Administration, 1977).
She began her career in law as a solicitor in London and in 1982 went to the USA. She worked in Baltimore, before deciding to requalify at the University of Chicago Law School.
She was awarded the JD, subsequently becoming a member of the Illinois Bar. There followed several years as Senior Attorney at The First National Bank of Chicago.
Sally returned to London in 1991, taking a post with Swiss Bank Corporation (now UBS).
Since 2001 she has been Managing Director and General Counsel of UBS Investment Bank, responsible for legal and compliance for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Sally took a break from the City for two and a half years to serve as Bursar of Corpus Christi College, 1998 - 2001.
She is a Governor of North London Collegiate School and of the Bridge Academy School, Hackney and is a member of the Financial Markets Law Committee.
