Sussex China Seminar Series

  • Perspectives on Social, Technological and Environmental Dynamics in a Changing China

China’s economy, society and environment have changed dramatically over the past three decades, with huge impacts and implications for the rest of the world.  The country’s emergence as a centre for science and technology further enhances its importance, and places China at the centre of global debates around innovation governance and sustainable development.  Sussex and IDS researchers are working with Chinese colleagues in various disciplines to investigate these changes across different regions and sectors.

This seminar series, which ran in the 2014-2015 academic year, involved six departments at the University of Sussex and the Institute of Development Studies.  It aimed to enable the exchange of ideas between these multi-disciplinary teams, to ask what we might learn from China’s approaches to managing these rapid changes, and where comparative insights or opportunities for collaboration might be found.
