Elpiniki NikolopoulouExploring the beautiful scenery of Horseshoe Bend

'I was given the opportunity to study for a semester at Arizona State University (ASU). It was a memorable experience and one of the best decisions I have ever made; not only did I make long lasting friendships from all around the world, but I also got to experience a completely different educational system. Although it was quite a challenge to adapt to this different environment, ASU offered a lot of support and organised multiple events to help us adjust and build social relationships. In addition to this, the professors at ASU were extremely helpful and supportive, and this allowed me to perform well academically.

Apart from studying, I got to travel around the United States after the end of my semester exploring different states and witnessing beautiful sceneries such as the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Horseshoe Bend, Antelope Canyon, Yosemite National Park. I am so grateful to have spent six months in Arizona and if I could, I would do it all over again. As a result of this experience, I will be continuing my studies in the Fall to do a fully funded PhD programme in Applied Mathematics at ASU.'

National University of Singapore

Sandra Joksaite spent a term studying at the National University of Singapore (NUS). See what Sandra says about her experience:

Sandra Joksaite Sapa Vietnam'One of the most beautiful places for me in South East Asia - rice fields in Sapa town, North of Vietnam.'

Sandra Joksaite Halong Bay Vietnam'Three day boat trip around Halong Bay, Vietnam - unforgettable sights.'

'I went on an exchange programme at the National University of Singapore (NUS) during the first term of my second year. It was one of the most challenging, rewarding and enjoyable experiences I have ever had. It taught me how to adapt quickly to a completely new cultural and academical environment. Although the culture was quite individualistic at the university, I was provided with various resources to do well academically.

Constant sunshine and the active lifestyle adopted by the Singaporeans helped me to stay stress-free during busy revision period.

At the end of my exchange programme I backpacked for six weeks around Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand with other exchange students from the NUS. This experience was invaluable as I made true friendships with people from various places around the world.

Going on the exchange programme was definitely the highlight of my whole degree as it enabled me to grow in many ways and I have developed not only academically, but also personally.'
