Department of Mathematics

Mathematical Physics

This is a new cross-discipline research group with members from the two Departments of the School.  A full website will be available soon.

We focus on the mathematical aspects of physics which include: classical and quantum gravity, black holes, quantum field theory, foundations of quantum mechanics, rigorous quantum mechanics, mathematical challenges in quantum chemistry, statistical physics, fracture problems in solids, percolation and foundations of statistical physics. The group promotes interdisciplinary research that uses applied mathematical and theoretical physics methods, for example in applications to finance and econophysics.
