Dr Menton is a Research Fellow in Environmental Justice with the Sussex Sustainability Research Programme (SSRP). Her research centres around three projects: 

SDG's, global commodity chains and environmental justice 

This project focuses on Understanding how environmental justice conflict impacts achievement of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), using Ecuador as a case study. Dr Mika Peck is the PI on this project.


'Sustainable' development and atmospheres of violence: experiences of environmental defenders

Funded by the British Academy Sustainable Development Programme, Dr Menton is the PI of this project which focuses on understanding how environmental defenders experience atmospheres of violence linked to development projects (mis)labelled as sustainable. The project works with partners in Bangladesh, Brazil, Cambodia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ecuador and Guinea-Bissau and the UK.


Mapping Indigenous Rights Abuses in Northeastern Brazil

Funded by the International Development Challenge Fund at Sussex, Dr Menton is the PI on this project which works with professors and indigenous students at three Universities in Bahia, Brazil to map the extent and nature of violations of indigenous peoples' rights in Northeastern Brazil.
