- SAN
- Storage Area Network. A high-speed subnetwork of shared storage devices - machines which contain nothing but a disk or disks for storing data.

- SHTML
- An online document with the extension shtml (as opposed to html) indicates that that the page contains a Server Side Include - namely that information will be dynamically added by the server before the page is sent to the browser (for example, a common page header or navigation bar).

- Skype
- Skype is a free Internet telephony product that uses peer-to-peer (P2P) networking protocols. It effectively allows users to make free internet-based phone calls between one Skype user and another.
You can use Skype on the University network and on the Roaming (ResNet, Wireless and Wired) network only if it is installed with settings so that it does not start automatically or use the university network as a supernode. For instructions, see the ITS FAQ 1234
