Linguistic DNA of Modern Western Thought - A Workshop

The Linguistic DNA of Modern Western Thought: Paradigmatic Terms in English, 1500-1800.

Our first project workshop (methodology training workshop) will be held at the University of Sussex on Friday 18th September 2015 in Jubilee G22. The workshop is on Computer Assisted Language Processing and is aimed at discussing the information extraction and concept modelling techniques used in the Linguistic DNA project.

The aim of this project is to understand the evolution of early modern thought by modelling the semantic and conceptual changes which occurred in English discourse (c.1500-c.1800). The project will use information extraction techniques and data visualisation to identify lexical patterns in 250,00 texts, mainly from EBBO anECCO.
