Clusters

Cluster evolution studies are key to our ambition to use clusters as cosmological probes and to the understanding of structure formation. The XMM cluster survey (XCS, led by Kathy Romer) has produced the largest ever compilation of X-ray temperatures for a homogeneous cluster sample. At Sussex we are leading a variety XCS driven science projects, with a particular focus on its application to cosmological parameter constraints. We are also exploiting synergies with the Dark Energy Survey (DES) and are playing a significant role in the development, mass calibration, and exploitation (for cosmology) of the DES cluster samples.
