Megan’s student perspective

Megan Hurst ‘Sussex has been great for more than just the academic side of life – since my first year, I've been really involved in sports at the University, especially with the Ultimate Frisbee team. Our women's team has won the outdoor national championship title five times since I joined the University, which is a credit to the hard work of captains over the years, and also to the incredible talent of our head coach who is widely regarded as one of the top coaches in the UK.

‘The support from the Students' Union and from Sussexsport has been fantastic. A lot of our players (myself included!) come to Ultimate from a “non-sporty” background and the quality of the coaching and support at Sussex really helps them to develop into athletes and phenomenal players.

‘On a personal level, being lucky enough to receive a sports bursary has been fantastic for me – this year I am representing Great Britain at the European Beach Championships and the support from the University means I can get excited about playing rather than worrying about money.’
