Autumn teaching
You develop a critical understanding of key concepts, theories and controversies in climate change mitigation and adaptation and the main features of international policy responses to climate change - both within and outside the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
You learn about:
- key controversies about economic approaches to climate change such as valuation techniques, the use of economic instruments and the treatment of future generations
- climate policies at both national and international level
- debates on climate change mitigation and adaptation
- differences in experiences and responses to climate change across varied regional and national contexts.

Contact hours and workload
This module is approximately 300 hours of work. This breaks down into about 44 hours of contact time and about 256 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
