Balfour Beatty have recently completed construction of our landmark new Student Centre and work is underway on designs for the fit-out.

When the Student Centre, due to open in Autumn 2021, it will be the go-to place for students to access face-to-face information, advice and guidance services.

Facilities in the new Student Centre will include:
  • flexible spaces for students to meet and collaborate
  • spaces for workshops and group work
  • rooms for confidential advice sessions and meetings
  • an outdoor courtyard
  • office space for connectors and other student staff to come together and work side by side with staff, co-creating and delivering services for students
  • an unlicensed café
  • five new retail units near the front entrance
The overall aim is to create a welcoming and inclusive space for our diverse student body, which will be versatile so that it can be used in different ways at different times across the academic year.

Not only is the Student Centre a significant building project – it’s also part of our range of initiatives to transform the student experience at Sussex.

We will continue to canvas feedback from students around its design and use as well as the services that will be delivered from it.

Opening in Autumn 2021 this will transform the way students receive information and access services, giving our students a flexible, technology-smart centre right at the heart of campus and will be part of an enhanced way in which we work and provide support to students.
