Leadership development programme
Leadership capacity and capability is of critical importance to the success of Sussex, and investing in leadership development is a strategic priority for us. In consultation with Heads of Department, we chose Ashridge Consulting, leaders in the field of leadership and organisational development, to create a leadership programme for academic staff. The first programme is working with an initial group of academic Heads of Department and other academics in school leadership roles, from across arts and sciences, and with both established and new leaders.
The programme contains a mix of structured input, conversation, experiential development and action learning, organised around specific themes such as personal leadership, self-awareness, and motivation. In the next phase, the programme will be extended to professional services staff, with the aim of bringing academic and professional staff together.
