Summer Group Exercise Classes

Classes from Monday 6 June to Friday 16 September

Group exercise classes are free for staff Gold and Silver members. Price per class for staff Bronze members is £4.40 and £6.50 for non-members.

Monday

Zumba: 12.05pm - 12.50pm

Instructor: Gemma C

Venue: Sport Centre Dance Studio

Zumba fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind class that will blow you away.

Yoga: 1pm - 2pm

Instructor: Various

Venue: Sport Centre Dance Studio

Based on flowing sequences and precise alignment, linked to full rhythmic breathing that will open up both body and mind. This class will improve your strength, stamina and flexibility.

Dynamic Pilates: 4pm - 5pm

Venue: Sport Centre Dance Studio 

Mat-based Pilates focusing on improving flexibility and strength for the whole body. Slow, controlled movements for maximum effect and relaxation. This class is suitable for beginners and improvers.

CardioBox: 5.05pm - 5.50pm

CardioBox is a high energy class using a mix of simple martial arts moves mixed with traditional aerobics exercises to create a full body workout. Kick, punch, squat & Jack away the calories with this fat burning, stress releasing fun workout. Suitable for all abilities & fitness levels, no martial arts experience needed

Small Group Training: 6pm - 6.45pm

Venue: Falmer Sports Complex Fitness Room

A coaching focused session covering the key exercises in a strength training workout. The session will cover warm up, take you through a circuit of 5 of the main strength movements, Squat, Deadlift, Row, Push Up and Plank.

Venue: Sport Centre Hall Two

A one hour session that focuses on all over body workout. This class is aimed to get you stronger, leaner, help you burn more calories and is guaranteed to leave you feeling like you have had a good session! The class is aimed at all levels from the beginner through to the advanced trainer.

This class is aimed to get you stronger, leaner, help you burn more calories and is guaranteed to leave you feeling like you have had a good session! The class is aimed at all levels from the beginner through to the advanced trainer.

PiYO: 12.10pm - 12.50pm

PiYo combines the muscle-sculpting, core-firming benefits of Pilates with the strength and flexibility advantages of yoga.  We crank up the speed to deliver a true fat-burning, low-impact workout that leaves your body looking long, lean, and incredibly defined

On Tuesday 26 July PiYO will take place at 1.05pm due to childrens summer camps.

Aerial Yoga: 2.15pm - 3.15pm

Venue: Sport Centre Dance Studio

Move between yoga postures using a low-hanging wide aerial silk, hung like a hammock, to give flowing movements that relax and stretch the body.

Long sleeves and long trousers recommended wear, but not essential. Please wear clothing with no zips or buckles, and remove watches and jewellery prior to each class.

Aerial Circus Improvers: 3.30pm - 4.30pm

Move between yoga postures using a low-hanging wide aerial silk, hung like a hammock, to give flowing movements that relax and stretch the body.

HIT: 5.10pm - 5.55pm

This class is suitable for all fitness levels. You start the class with a warm up. The rest of the sessions is split into 4 x 4 strength exercises using bodyweight adn dumbells. You will work on the lower body, the upper body and core. The method of training creates a high intensity and high energy class.

Metabolic Training: 5pm - 6pm

Venue: Falmer Sports Complex Fitness Room

A class centred on strength training to produce a high intensity class that trains both the muscular and cardiovascular system to create a smart training solution. The class uses barbells, dumbbells, ropes, kettlebells and medicine balls and requires some experience of free weight training. The class is a great calorie burner, great fun and is a challenging workout.

Indoor Group Cycling: 6.10pm - 6.50pm

Cycle to the beat of the music or speed through challenging intervals. This high intensity class will help you burn calories, energise the body and is suitable for all abilities.

Join us on our outdoor fitness area for a class that uses medballs, kettlebells and other equipment to provide a high intensity, fun and challenging workout in the sunshine. Be prepared for all weathers.

Pilates is a form of exercise which concentrates on strengthening the body with an emphasis on core strength. This helps to improve general fitness and overall well-being. Similar to Yoga, Pilates concentrates on posture, balance and flexibility

Strength and core works on switching on all our deep stabilising muscles so that we improve balance, core control and is great for injury prevention. The movements are slow and strong to allow for correct technique and form. You will definitely be challenged in a positive way and will end the class feeling like you have not only worked hard but achieved a lot!
