Nearly 4,000 students have elected Students’ Union officers to represent them in 2013-14, setting a new turnout record.
The new officers will take up their year-long positions from June.
Special congratulations go to the newly elected LPS full time officers -
Communications Officer – Imogen Adie (Politics undergraduate)
As Communications Officer, Imogen will try to make the Union and student media more relevant for all students. Union officers will be encouraged to be more visible around campus and there will be more support for volunteers. Imogen will support student media and improve the Union’s online presence with a better website, more effective use of social media and development of apps for smartphones.
Welfare Officer – Sophie van der Ham (Sociology postgraduate)
Sophie will campaign to maintain teaching quality and promote students’ interests as the University continues to grow. With a focus on sustainability, Sophie will use her time in office to increase the number of water fountains on campus and look at ways to make it easier to cycle or get the bus to the University. Affordable and high-quality housing is also a priority for her, as is making campus a more inclusive environment.
And newly elected part-time officer:
Bree Allegretti (Politics Undergraduate) will serve as Media Development Officer
