A Sociology and Criminology degree at Sussex is so much more than the modules you take. You can get involved in debates, attend talks on the latest research developments, develop your research skills through your final-year project and choose to do a year abroad or work placement.
This gives you the chance to link the knowledge and experience gained over your degree to the key issues affecting third sector organisations, local and central governments, and the private sector.
The project also provides you with the opportunity to address the important questions being asked by academics.
You can extend your knowledge within different social, cultural and political environments through:
- doing a work placement as part of your course.
This can help you boost your employability and we'll help you to find the best placement for you through our Placement Preparation Programme - taking a year abroad. If you are a Sociology with a Language degree student, you will take an integrated study abroad year to improve your language skills and experience another culture.
Even if you do not pick a Sociology course with an year abroad, you can still choose to study abroad for a year at a variety of destinations, extending your degree into a four-year course.
You can join our student society which puts on social events, talks, debates and film showings.
The events and debates are a great way to keep you up-to-date with the latest developments in sociology, as well as a fantastic opportunity to meet like-minded students.
