Sussex Centre for Global Insecurities Research (CGI)

Two members of the IR Department have been awarded funding for projects that will be undertaken through the Sussex Conflict and Security Research Centre.

The Kick Start Network Scheme is a University run programme that engages with non-academic external organisations to support and demonstrate the translation of the research done here at Sussex into realisable benefits for the UK. 

The scheme favours interdisciplinary bids and so far these projects are among only three successful bids in the current Kickstar round. 

Anna Stavrianakis has obtained funding for four workshops on:

“Austerity vs. strategy: the impact of the financial crisis on military strategy, spending,  procurement and weapons transfers”.

Whilst Jan Selby has funding for four workshops on: 

"Rising Powers and Peace Processes".
