Biography
I am a PhD student on the 4-year Sussex Neuroscience PhD programme. I am currently in my second year, undertaking a project in Prof Majid Hafezparast's lab. My project focuses on investigating the role of microRNAs released from microglia in the pathology of motor neuron disease. For my rotation year, I did a project in Dr Andy Penn's lab and in Dr Catherine Hall's lab.
Previous research experience
For my master's research project, I used magnetoencephalogram-derived physiological data from schizophrenia patients and clinical-high-risk patients to examine the relationship between autonomic nervous system activity and psychopathology, in order to establish a potential physiological biomarker for psychosis.
For my honour's project, I investigated the therapeutic potential of the peptide angiotensin-(1-7) following stroke, using magnetic resonance imaging and histology.
