Ioannis graduated in 2004 with a BA in International European Economic and Political Studies from the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki, Greece, with a commendation (Merit).

In 2006, he completed his MSc in International Relations in Royal Holloway University of London, graduating again with a commendation (Merit). His dissertation focused on the real dimensions of the War on Terrorism in the 21st Century from the perspective of international law.

Ioannis is currently a doctoral student in Law with LPS (University of Sussex). As of May 2016, Ioannis is a part-time Research Assistant with SPRU on the Harvard Sussex Program (HSP) in the area of International Security and Chemical and Biological Warfare, working with Dr. Caitriona McLeish, Dr. James Revill and Prof. Julian Perry Robinson.

On June 2017, Ioannis became an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA), and as of October 2017, Ioannis has been appointed as a part-time hourly paid Lecturer with the Institute of Criminal Justice Studies (University of Portsmouth.
