I have been a Research Fellow at the Science and Technology Policy Research Unit (SPRU) at the University of Sussex since 2012. I am a member of the Sussex Energy Group, and am affiliated with the STEPS Centre (Social, Technological and Environmental Pathways to Sustainability).  I am coordinator of the Nexus Network, an interdisciplinary initiative funded by the ESRC bringing together researchers, policy makers, business leaders and civil society to develop collaborative projects and improve decision making on food, energy, water and the environment

I am interested in the theory and practice of inter-disciplinary research for sustainability, science and technology policy, knowledge politics and environmental governance.  My most recent research has focused on the social, geopolitical and ethical implications of the growing interest in technological manipulations of the climate and climatic processes as a response to climate change (a set of proposals known collectively as climate geoengineering).  This work was carried out as part of the Climate Geoengineering Governance Research Project (CGG), a multi-disciplinary collaboration between the universities of Sussex, UCL and Oxford, which aims to carry out robust research to inform governance of the range of geoengineering approaches

Prior to joining SPRU, I worked as a post-doctoral research assistant at Leeds University, examining the role of boundary organisations in climate governance.  In 2011 I completed an inter-disciplinary PhD on conservation politics on the Galapagos Islands, also at the University of Leeds.  Prior to embarking on my PhD I worked for a number of years in the environmental NGO sector.
