Biography
Research Interests
Most of Michael Sumner's work to date has been in the fields of macroeconomics and public finance, much of it with particular reference to the impact of policy instruments on the behaviour of the corporate and household sectors in the UK. Work currently in progress focuses on the relationship between household consumption expenditures and corporate retained earnings, on the relationship between the latter and capital gains on equities, and on macroeconomic behavioural relationships in emerging economies. He has published in the Economic Journal, Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Public Economics, and Oxford Economic Papers, among others.
