Why visit US?
Visiting our department during an Admissions Day will give you the chance to meet with faculty and students and experience for yourself our unique learning environment. You will be given the opportunity to interact directly with members of faculty. Come and visit our excellent teaching facilities, such as our newly refurbished laboratories and unique student study areas. We will also introduce you to our world-leading research and show you how you can get involved yourself during your time at Sussex. Most importantly, you will meet current students and learn why they are so enthusiastic about studying with us.

The physics department is located in Pevensey II. Should you arrive late, simply make your way to the department.
Frequently asked questions
- Guests: there are numerous informative talks for parents. Tea and coffee is available for accompanying guests whilst they wait.
- Dress code: the large majority of people visiting us wear comfortable clothes. We certainly do not expect shirt and tie.
- Refreshments: there are plenty of coffee bars and restaurants on campus. We will also offer free tea, coffee and biscuits.
- A typical schedule:
9.30 am registration
10.00 – 11.00 am informative talks about the department and the university
11.00 am – 1.00 pm visit to the department
- Interviews: we interview some Foundation Year applicants only. If you are coming for an interview, you will have received a letter with more information.
- Group sessions: we do offer short sessions where you meet a member of faculty who is both teaching and doing world class research in our department. In these sessions you and two other applicants have the opportunity to ask questions about us and find out more about our teaching and research. The exact time and location will be given to you upon arrival.
