Events for students

Undergraduate Student Society (UPSOC)

Undergraduates run their own successful undergraduate society at which they present their own work and listen to invited speakers. This is run entirely by the undergraduates.

Research seminars

The Royal Institute of Philosophy and the Centre for Social and Political Thought both meet weekly; times and locations can be found on the Events page. A talk is given by a visiting speaker, or one of the Sussex tutors or students. This lasts about 45 minutes or an hour, and is followed by discussion for about an hour. Informal discussion continues afterwards in the bar. All students are encouraged to come and participate in the discussion.

Undergraduate philosophy conference

In your second and third years, you will be invited to participate in an undergraduate philosophy conference off campus at which third-year students present papers in a professional manner to an audience of undergraduates and faculty members. Discussion follows each of the papers. Previous years' programmes can be found on the Conferences page.
