Academic Institutional Membership of Chatham House

The School of Global Studies has Academic Institutional Membership of Chatham House, arguably the UK's best international affairs think tank.  This means all students in the School are entitled to attend selected events and gain membership at a discounted price.

Student Membership

Not all Members’ Events are open to students using day passes due to high security or high demand. However, the students in the School are able to become Student Members of Chatham House at the discounted rate of £85/year (student rate is normally £110). Once formally elected (approx. 2 weeks after applying) members are entitled to register for any Members’ Event. They can apply for membership online http://www.chathamhouse.org.uk/membership/aim_student_benefits/ using the password 'jwx8R29Q41Y'.

To register for an event

Students should either email membership@chathamhouse.org.uk, or go to http://www.chathamhouse.org.uk/events/ and follow the link to the specific event to register.

With both methods, use the password 'jwx8R29Q41Y', and provide:

  • The event and date they wish to attend
  • Their department and University
  • Their student number
  • Their course completion date
  • Their date of birth if an U35s Forum event
